Late Iranian writer Vali video clip to be unveiled in Tehran

Late Iranian actor, writer and theater director Jafar Vali will be honored at a Tehran event.

Late Iranian actor, writer and theater director Jafar Vali will be honored at a Tehran event with the release of his video-clip made on the basis of photographs taken from his theatrical works.

The video, made and edited by Vali when he was still alive, will be unveiled at a commemoration ceremony at the Sangalaj Theater in Tehran on February 4.

The video-clip is a brief account of his professional experience.

“The only remnant of my 60 years in theater is a photo collection which I show” in the clip, the late writer stated.

Theater actor Ali Bigham has organized the event in memorial to his friend and colleague.

“The ceremony, which starts at 4 pm, features live music programs and play reading. Theater and film actor Khosrow Ahmadi will present the event,” Bigham said.

In the last months of his life, Vali was preparing to stage ‘Whisper in My Sound Ear’, a play about the last day of two old men.

“The play has two characters, two old migrant men who decide to commit suicide. But first, they want to enjoy the last day of their lives to the fullest,” Vali said in November 2016, a month before his death on December 17.

‘Whisper in My Sound Ear’ is one of two plays to be scheduled for reading at the ceremony, the other being ‘40 Days Before Ascent.’

As one of the oldest theater halls in Tehran, Sangalaj Theater is located south of Park-Shahr on Behesht Street.
